More Info:

Learn to Figure Skate provides a solid skating foundation by focusing on proper skill development. Classes are 45 minutes in length and are held one evening a week (or bi-weekly when available).

Class Format

>5 minute warm up

>20-30 minutes for lessons in small groups

>10-20 minutes practice time to work on your skills

>Breakout groups are formed according to skill level and age, with adults grouped together.

>This class is open to skaters ages 4 - adult.

>No need to be a member of the GFSC to participate.

>First time skaters are welcome, but need to be able to stand up on skates by themselves (not needing to be held up or use the boards to stay standing).

Come Prepared

1.Bring your own figure skates (rentals not available). No hockey skates allowed. Hockey skate blades are not meant for learning figure skating moves, jumps and spins.

2.Have skates sharpened prior to the first class for the best experience! New skates rarely come with sharpened blades, and skates that have been sitting in a closet for a number of years often have dull or rusty blades.

3. Wear skate-ready attire. Ice rinks are cold! Long pants and layers are recommended so you can adjust as necessary. Gloves, hats/helmets, Knee/elbow pads, loose or stretchy pants and tall socks are all useful.
